Collapsed Church in Nepal

From Dr. Gordon (Missionary) May 21, 2024

The attached photo shows a church meeting in the mountain region of Nepal, with around 70 people in attendance. However, the place of gathering looks a bit unusual and is clearly not a complete building.

Yes, this is a collapsed church. Due to the old construction and the fact that it was originally built with mud bricks, during an earthquake in March 2024, one wall collapsed. Initially, it was thought that a simple repair would suffice. However, it was later discovered that other walls were also severely cracked and in danger of collapsing at any moment, so they can no longer gather there. The church must be rebuilt.

To construct this church, the believers in Nepal have already started fundraising, but due to widespread poverty, they have raised about $1,000 so far.

Typically, the cost of building a church in Nepal is around $9,000 to $11,000. Why is this church cheaper? Because the workers in Nepal shared with me that they will try to salvage usable materials from the collapsed church, which should save some money.

Seeing them meeting under a tent is really heartbreaking. The rainy season is coming soon, and then the cold autumn and winter weather will follow. Preparing a spiritual home where they can gather is something that pleases our Heavenly Father.

We at NewOne have donated 50,000 TWD.
